1. Coming together is a beginning;
2. Keeping together is progress;
3. Working together is success.
As a leader, you must be trained in awareness, knowledge, and skills to develop the above statement.
You should have the ability to see the situation as the other person sees it, as difficult as that may be, is one of the most important skills a good leader can possess. It is not enough to know that they see things differently. If you want to influence them, you also need to understand empathetically the power of their point of view and to feel the emotional force with which they believe it.
It is not enough to study them like beetles under a microscope; you need to know what it feels like to be a beetle. To accomplish this task, you should be prepared to withhold judgment, as you “try on” their views. They may believe that their views are “right” as strongly as you believe that your views are right.
You don’t have to blow out the other person’s light in order to let your own shine. A good leader don’t do that but worked together to accomplished the goals.
